About
Cupid's Irony is a cover band for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
An acoustic trio out of Melbourne with a folkie streak running through everything they touch. Cupid's Irony can sit back and play under conversation, or push it along when the room wants to move. The song list tells you plenty: Fast Car, Dreams, Don't Dream It's Over, Dance Monkey, Ironic, Drops Of Jupiter, plenty of Sheryl Crow. They bring their own PA and gear, need about an hour to set up and sound check, and want decent access for load in and out. They also cover house music between sets and hand over a microphone for speeches, which quietly solves two problems most people forget about until the day. Organised is the word they use about themselves, and they tell you what they need well ahead of time.

The show
Organised is the word Cupid's Irony use about themselves, and it holds up: they tell you what they need well before the day rather than on the day. On the night the music is handled end to end. That means the trio playing, the house music filling the gaps between sets, and a microphone ready for speeches. Three things most people only think about once the room has gone quiet and someone is looking for a mic.
On the day
Their own PA and gear travels with them. Give them an hour before guests arrive to set up and run a sound check, and make sure there's decent access for getting equipment in and back out again. Stairs and long carries are worth mentioning early.
