About
Busta Groove Australia is a cover band for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Funk and RnB are the home ground for Busta Groove Australia, a five piece Melbourne party band whose most requested song says it all: Gonna Make You Sweat by C+C Music Factory. Around it sits a set spanning the 70s through to now. Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder and Whitney Houston sit beside Usher, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift, with disco, Latin and pop threaded through. They supply their own backline and can bring full sound and lighting production for corporate events, and they scale down to two or three piece acoustic sets for the quieter parts of a day. Stage needs are modest: four metres by three and a half, flat, with power.
Watch
The show
Five players, and the thing they're chasing all night is a full dance floor. Melbourne's Busta Groove Australia lean on funk and old school RnB, tight harmonies over a rhythm section that knows exactly what it's doing. It works at a wedding, at a corporate night, at a festival. What changes is the pacing, not the commitment. And they've got a knack for reading when a room is ready to be pushed and when it wants a minute to breathe.
On the day
Backline comes with the band, and for corporate work they can bring the full sound and lighting rig as well. Performance area needs to be flat and stable, at least four metres across and three and a half deep. If a stage suits your venue better, that can be organised to fit. Power on hand is the only other essential.
Performance options
Five piece is the main offering, but they also strip back. A two piece or three piece acoustic set works nicely as a warm up earlier in the day, or for the next-day recovery party when nobody wants to be shouted at. Both of those can sit inside the same booking as the band.
