About
Blue Suede Kings is a cover band for hire in Mooroolbark, VIC.
Early rock and roll, played by five men who have been doing it long enough to make it look easy. Blue Suede Kings pull from the pioneers, so a set might run When Will I Be Loved into Old Time Rock & Roll, Dream Lover, Let's Twist Again, Lucille, Green Door and Blue Suede Shoes, with Burning Love near the end. There's a Christmas number in there too. They come with their own sound system, full back line and lighting, and need about an hour to set up. Based at Mooroolbark, and the audience can be any age. Every member carries public liability cover and all leads are tagged and tested.
The show
Five experienced players who have been at this a long while and aim the whole night at the audience rather than at each other. Age doesn't much matter with this material. Grandparents know the originals, everyone else knows them from somewhere, and the room ends up singing regardless. It's early rock and roll played straight, by people who were listening to it well before it became nostalgia.
On the day
Everything comes with them: sound system, full back line and lighting. So the venue doesn't need to supply gear, just the space and the time. Allow an hour minimum for setup before the first song, and make sure they can get into the room by then. Every lead they bring is tagged and tested, which some venues will ask about.
