About
Sweeney Preston is a comedian for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Corporate rooms are a different beast to a comedy club, and Sweeney Preston works them for a living. Melbourne based, with stand-up sets built for EOFY nights, conferences, awards evenings, Christmas parties and client functions. Sweeney will talk to organisers first and fold company stories, in-jokes and the people everyone already laughs about into the set. The touring behind it is real: Australia, the UK, the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland and New Zealand, plus more than 70 shows on the Las Vegas Strip. Adelaide Fringe named the show Best Variety Weekly in 2025. Material runs through workplace culture, Australian life, travel stories and light crowd work. Bookable as an opener, a headline set, or as MC across the whole night. Insured, with RSA.

The show
Stand-up written for a corporate room rather than a comedy club, cheeky and sharp without being a risk. EOFY nights, conferences, awards evenings, Christmas parties, farewells, birthdays and client functions all get the same treatment: Sweeney talks to whoever is organising it beforehand and folds in company stories, in-jokes, the people everyone already laughs about, and the theme of the night. There's serious mileage behind the set, across Australia, the UK, the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland and New Zealand, plus more than 70 shows on the Las Vegas Strip. And if you want something odder, there are projector-based comedy presentations and PowerPoint routines too.
On the day
A handheld microphone and a PA that genuinely covers the number of people in the room. A stage or a marked performance area where everyone can see him matters more than most organisers expect. Basic stage lighting if the venue has it. The one thing worth checking early is background noise, because a comedy set dies next to a busy service bar or an open kitchen.
Performance options
The Conference Opener is a ten to fifteen minute set to wake the room up before the day starts properly. The Corporate Entertainment Package is a longer headline spot of twenty to thirty minutes, built for awards nights and functions. The MC and Comedy Package puts him across the whole night, handling introductions, awards presentations and comedy through the running order. There's also a custom option where the material is built around your organisation's own themes or messaging.
