About
Murphy McLachlan is a comedian for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Murphy McLachlan writes questions for The Chase Australia and Mastermind Australia, so when he hosts your trivia night the quiz is genuinely his own work rather than something pulled off the internet. He also hosts and produces Murph's Tavern, a Simpsons podcast, and self publishes a humour zine called Murph Mag. A standard quiz is three rounds of ten, around 90 minutes with breaks, and he can stretch or shorten that. He brings the questions, the answers, paper, pens, music, and a mic and speaker if the room needs one. Birthdays, bucks and hens nights, fundraisers, work parties. He also does stand up and straight MC work if trivia isn't what you're after. Melbourne.
The show
Trivia is the main event, but Murphy McLachlan will also do a stand up spot or straight MC duties if that suits the night better. The quiz is his own writing, not something recycled, and he can theme it around whatever you're celebrating. Standard shape is three rounds of ten questions, roughly 90 minutes once you count the breaks. Want it tighter so the room can get back to drinking and talking? Say so and he'll trim it. Want it longer? That works too. It sits well at birthdays, bucks and hens nights, fundraisers and work functions, and the size of the crowd doesn't much matter.
On the day
Book Murphy McLachlan for a trivia night and the whole kit arrives with him. Questions, the answer sheets, paper and pens for every table, music between rounds. If the room's big enough that his voice won't carry, he brings a mic and a speaker as well. So on your side there's not a lot to organise beyond somewhere for people to sit and something to write on.
