About
Fabulous Lemon Drops is a children's band for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Can a room full of five year olds move like an emu, hop like a frog and freeze like a statue? The Fabulous Lemon Drops build a whole set around finding out, and it works. They've been playing to family audiences since 2007 with a songbook of original pop rock: Dinosaur Boogie, Frogs Like To Hop, The Freeze, Copy Me Copy You, Fly Like A Rocket Ship. Songs cover emotions, the environment, healthy eating, reading and kindness, along with pirates, superheroes and Aussie animals. Percussion instruments get handed out so children play along, and there are singalongs and musical games throughout. Book them as a duo or the full band with mascots Flip the Frog, Ted the Bear and Flutter the Butterfly. A dancing Christmas tree turns up in December. Balloon twisting, roving and craft workshops can be added. They need roughly 5m by 4m and bring their own PA, including battery powered options.
Watch
The show
Can you move like an emu? Jump like a frog? Freeze like a statue? That's the sort of question the set opens with, and a room full of small children will answer it enthusiastically. The songs are their own award-winning originals, and the whole thing is built for participation: interactive musical games, singalongs, and percussion instruments handed out so kids can play along instead of just watching. There's a lot of moving, grooving, twisting and shouting. It's aimed at families enjoying something together rather than parents standing at the back.
On the day
About five metres by four is the performance space they'll need. Sound is their own problem, not yours: they carry several different PA options, powered and battery operated, chosen to suit the sort of event you're running. Stage plots and sound specs can be sent through on request.
Performance options
Book them as a duo for a smaller room, or as the full band, which brings along their colourful mascots: Flip the Frog, Ted the Bear, and Flutter the Butterfly. Come December, a dancing Christmas Tree joins in. There are optional extras on top of the show as well, with creative workshops, balloon twisting and roving available. Each option gets quoted on its own so you can build what suits your venue and your crowd.
