About
Billy K is a blues band for hire in Mount Nathan, QLD.
Blues on Broadbeach in both 2024 and 2025, which tells you the standard. Billy K Blues Band came together out of the Gold Coast scene, players who have worked in Australia and overseas for years and kept coming back to blues. Billy K sings and writes, John Welldon is on drums and vocals, Nigel Baker plays keys, Alton Twine handles bass and vocals, and Peter Govan brings the harmonica. Robert Johnson, B.B. King, Freddy King, Clapton, J.J. Cale, the Allman Brothers and Cream all sit in the DNA. The set is upbeat, mixing classic covers with their own material, and it works in clubs, pubs, at festivals, markets, corporate events and private parties. The band can scale from a duo through to a four piece with three part vocals, and can bring a full PA and lighting. Insured for public liability.
Watch
The show
Upbeat blues, played by a band that can shift shape depending on the room. You'll hear classic covers sitting next to their own material, and the emphasis is on keeping things moving rather than long slow numbers. It works in a club or a pub, and it works just as well at a festival, a market day, a corporate function or a private party in someone's backyard. First class playing, no fuss about it.
On the day
They'll want a covered stage or an indoor space inside the venue, so the gear stays dry and the players aren't in the weather. Beyond that it's straightforward. The band can bring a full PA system and lighting for the show, which saves you sourcing production separately. Let them know the size of the room and the line-up you're after when you enquire.
Performance options
Three sizes to pick from. The duo is keyboard, guitar and vocals, which suits smaller rooms and lower volume. Step up to the three piece and you get guitar, drums and either bass or keys, with vocals across it. The four piece is the full thing: guitar, bass, keys, drums, harmonica and three part vocal harmony. Tell them the space and the crowd when you enquire and they'll point you at the right one.
