Narelle builds wearable balloon costumes, and her workshop puts your colleagues to work building them too. It's hands-on, noisy, and it drops people out of their usual roles for an hour, which is generally the point of a team day. Releasing creativity that's been sitting idle is what she's actually interested in, hers and yours. Beyond corporate work she does kids' parties, weddings, expos and festivals. Workshops need power and room to move. For roving at a party she can work in about one square metre, plus space for the guests crowding in. Everything else is in the kit. Based in Perth.
The show
Balloons, and rather more of them than you're picturing. Narelle's work fits corporate team building days, kids parties and weddings alike, which is a wider range than the word balloon usually suggests. At a team day it turns into something hands-on, with your colleagues building things themselves rather than watching. At a party it's roving, with a queue forming wherever she stops. She's good company while she works, and the finished pieces are considerably more ambitious than a balloon dog.
On the day
It depends on what you've booked. Team building sessions and workshops need power and enough room for people to spread out and move, so a boardroom with the table still in the middle isn't ideal. Roving is the opposite end of the scale. At a party, expo or festival she can work in about a square metre, plus whatever space the guests gathering around her take up. Everything else she needs is already in the kit.
