About
Van Halen Tribute/ Mean Street is a tribute band for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Mean Street is four Melbourne musicians doing a Van Halen show, drawing mainly on the 1978 to 1984 David Lee Roth years with some Sammy Hagar era material worked in. Panama, Unchained, Running with the Devil, Jump, Hot for Teacher, Eruption, Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love, Mean Street. The visual side has had as much attention as the musical side, and venues have noticed. A standard show runs 60 to 90 minutes, though they've done two one hour sets and they've done 45 minute sets, so the format is open to discussion along with travel and PA. They'd rather use a house PA but can supply one.
The show
Sixty to ninety minutes is the usual length of a Mean Street show. Past that, the shape is up for discussion: they've played two sets of an hour and they've played 45 minute sets, so the format bends around the night rather than the other way round. Travel and PA arrangements get worked out in the same conversation.
Performance options
The Van Halen show is the main offering, but the same four musicians also run a nineties covers band called Nine Inch Nineties, with one extra player joining them for it. That matters if you have a venue to fill across a weekend: the Friday and the Saturday can be two completely different shows from largely the same crew, without booking two unrelated acts. Worth raising in your enquiry if a two night run is what you are after.
