UB4T: Tribute to UB40 is a tribute band for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Six pieces, matching the original line up, because you can't fake UB40 with three people and a backing track. UB4T draws its members from the Brisbane band ONE PLANET plus other players with national and international experience behind them. The repertoire sits in the eighties end of the catalogue, so Food For Thought, King, My Way Of Thinking, Red Red Wine, Rat In Mi Kitchen, One In Ten, Kingston Town, Cherry Oh Baby, Johnny Too Bad, Present Arms and Many Rivers To Cross. Saxophone, guitar, bass, drums and percussion on congas and bongos, with three vocal microphones. A reggae and ska DJ can be added to fill out a longer night.
The show
UB4T follow the original UB40 format with a full six piece band, drawing players from the popular ONE PLANET band alongside other musicians with national and international experience. The repertoire covers UB40's eighties era. Red Red Wine turns up, so does Kingston Town, along with One In Ten, Food For Thought, King and Rat In Mi Kitchen. Cherry Oh Baby, Johnny Too Bad, My Way Of Thinking, Watchdog, Present Arms and Wedding Day sit in there too. Original UB40 members Robin Campbell and Brian Travers have endorsed them. The line up is genuinely international, with players from Malaysia, the Philippines, England and New Zealand, others of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and South Sea heritage, and some raised in Adelaide.
On the day
On stage the band carries saxophone, guitar, bass, drums and percussion, with congas and bongos in the percussion setup. On the sound side they need 3 vocal microphones and 5 or 6 monitor speakers so the six players can hear each other properly across the stage.
