About
Avalon Swing is a swing band for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Rhythm guitar, fingerstyle lead and the push of an upright bass. Avalon Swing play acoustic swing and gypsy jazz around Brisbane as a duo, trio or quartet, with a five piece option that adds an electronic wind instrument. The repertoire moves between the American songbook and French cafe standards, some of them sung in both English and French: La Vie En Rose, C'est Si Bon, Jardin D'Hiver, Dream A Little Dream, Blue Moon, Pennies From Heaven. Instrumentals draw on Django Reinhardt and Benny Goodman. They've played venues and festivals across Australia and New Zealand. Power for a PA and three amps is ideal, though the duo carries battery-powered busking amps when there's no outlet. Insured.

On the day
Power is the main thing. The full line-up runs a PA plus three guitar amps, so a couple of accessible outlets near the performance spot will do it. If you're booking the duo and there's no power where you want them, that's not a problem either. They carry two small battery-powered busking amps for exactly that situation, which covers garden ceremonies, courtyards and anywhere a lead won't reach.
Performance options
Avalon Swing scale up or down depending on the room. At the smallest it's solo fingerstyle guitar. The duo puts two acoustic guitars behind a voice. A trio brings in double bass alongside the guitars and vocals, and the quartet stretches that to three acoustic guitars over the bass. Then there's the five piece, same as the quartet plus an electronic wind instrument, which is the fullest sound they offer.
