About

Kent Eastwood is a singer-songwriter for hire in Byron Bay, NSW.

Piano, guitar, harmonica and piano accordion, all played professionally for more than fifteen years. Kent Eastwood has five studio recordings out, the most recent being New Beginnings, recorded in Berlin in 2017, and that same year he played piano accordion on Kasey Chambers' number one album Dragonfly. He recently finished a national tour with fellow Byron songwriter Sam Buckingham. Live, he sings over guitar or keys, or drops into improvised jazz blues piano when a room wants music without words. The repertoire runs from Midnight Oil and U2 to Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and jazz standards. He gets complimented for not playing too loud, which is a real skill. Power at the performance spot, and cover if it's outdoors.

The show

Kent Eastwood sings over guitar or over piano, whichever suits the room, and he can also drop into improvised jazz blues piano when you want music with no vocal sitting over the conversation. He's flexible about which instrument leads. What people compliment him on most often is not playing too loudly, which sounds like faint praise until you've had a function ruined by a musician who wouldn't turn down. He reads a room, keeps it relaxed while guests are talking, and lifts it later on when the mood shifts. That judgement is the thing you're really booking.

On the day

Power needs to reach the performance spot safely. If the booking is outdoors, arrange cover nearby so the gear can be moved out of the wet at short notice. For bookings in his local area Kent Eastwood can supply a PA for his own music, though that system is his alone, so any DJ or other musician on the bill will need to organise their own.
