About

Dan Whyman is a singer-songwriter for hire in Central Coast, NSW.

Forty years in, Dan Whyman is still writing his own songs. He learned the trade playing covers around Sydney pubs through the 80s, then co-founded The Blind Mullets, a musical comedy duo well known in that same city. In 1989 he was among the founders of the Society of Australian Songwriters. Since then: television, radio, and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The songs are Australian to the bone and funnier than most, from the cheeky 'Far Kurnell' to 'Mate I Love This Country'. Expect to laugh and to sing along. He performs solo from the Central Coast, and needs power and a small stage area. Stage plot available. Public liability cover is in place.

Watch

The show

Original Australian songs, written and performed by the bloke singing them. Dan Whyman shows up when he says he will and gets on with it, which sounds unremarkable until you have booked someone who does not. What lands with an audience is the material itself, the sort of thing people quote back to each other on the drive home. Comedy sits inside the songwriting rather than being bolted on, so a room that came to listen ends up laughing as well.

On the day

A small flat area to stand in, with power to it. It's a one man show so nothing elaborate is needed, and a corner of a room or a low stage does the job. If your venue or your production people want the technical layout in advance, Dan has a stage plot he can send through. Sorting that early saves a conversation on the day. Public liability cover is in place, which most venues will ask about before they let anyone plug in.
