Benny Purnell is a singer-songwriter for hire in East Ballina, NSW.
Solo, Benny Purnell plays acoustic guitar, sings and works two foot stomps at the same time, which is why one person can sound like more. Add a drummer and it's a duo, add a lead guitarist and it's bigger again, and there's a three-piece rock band, Tubed Radio, on top of that. Rock and blues sit underneath most of it with folk and reggae surfacing now and then. He can play a set of originals or three hours plus of covers, and it's usually a mix. Expect INXS, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Sublime, Talking Heads, Grinspoon, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young and Ash Grunwald. He brings his own PA and lights for small to medium venues, and carries property and public liability insurance.

He arrives with enough time to set up whichever configuration you've booked, solo, duo or the full band. For small to medium venues he can bring his own PA and lights, which saves you sourcing them. No fuss on the day, which is what you want from the music side.
On the day
One 2400W power outlet if Benny is supplying the PA, and shelter from the weather for evening outdoor gigs. If you're providing production, here's what to give your sound crew. Solo needs a vocal mic, an instrument mic, one input for guitar and a line input for the foot stomp. Duo adds a second vocal mic, kick and drum mics, and a DI for guitar. Tubed Radio needs two vocal mic inputs, an instrument mic input, drum mics and a DI for bass. He carries a kick mic and a spare Shure SM57.

Three ways to book it. Solo is Benny with guitar, vocals and two foot stomps going at once. Duo adds a drummer. Tubed Radio is the three piece rock band, which is the loudest of the three and the one for a room you want filled.
