About

On Tap Music - Steve Simpson is a singer for hire in Ararat, VIC.

Steve Simpson plays solo, and the setlist is a proper Australian pub education: Bow River, Boys Light Up, Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, Ain't No Second Prize, plus Crowded House, Pearl Jam, Dragon, U2, Van Morrison and American Pie. He'll take requests where he can. Three modes are on offer under the On Tap Music name: quiet background music for dinner, a straight acoustic set, or a bigger sound with full band backing tracks behind him. His gear runs on battery, so an outdoor ceremony or a garden party works without hunting for power. Indoors he just needs a couple of power points. Based in Victoria and available for weddings, functions and pub work.

The show

Steve Simpson turns up on time, which sounds like a low bar until you've booked someone who didn't. He'll take requests where he knows the song, and he's straight about the rest of it too: no drugs, and little to no drinking while he's working your event. If you're hiring for a family function or a corporate room, that's the sort of thing you probably wanted to ask and felt awkward asking.

On the day

His rig runs on battery, so an outdoor ceremony or a spot in the garden with no power nearby is fine. No generator, no extension lead trailing back to the house. Indoors, a couple of power points near where he's playing will do it.
