About
Michael S is a singer for hire in Sunshine Coast, QLD.
Before the solo work there was a rock 'n' roll tribute and covers band on the Sydney club circuit that toured nationally. That's the grounding. These days Michael S plays solo or as a duo around the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, and offers three distinct flavours: a general acoustic set that runs laid back through pub classics into upbeat rock 'n' roll, a set of Aussie classics from Paul Kelly, Crowded House, Men At Work, Mental As Anything and INXS, and a fifties and sixties set built on Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Elvis, The Everly Brothers and The Beatles. He brings his own instruments and PA. All that's needed at your end is a power point, a two by two metre space, and an hour before the first song.
Watch
The show
Three fairly different nights, depending on which one you ask for. The general acoustic set roams across decades, starting laid back, moving through the pub classics everyone knows, then lifting into rock 'n' roll once people want to dance. The Aussie set draws on Crowded House, INXS, Mental As Anything, Paul Kelly and Men At Work. And the fifties and sixties set is for the crowd who genuinely dance to that stuff: Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Elvis, The Everly Brothers, The Beatles. Say which way you want the night to lean and he'll build it that way.
On the day
Everything comes with him, instruments and PA included, so there's no gear hire to organise at your end. Three things needed on site: a 240V power outlet, a space around two metres by two, and an hour before the first song to get set up and sounding right.
Performance options
You're choosing a flavour rather than a line-up. Solo acoustic covers popular songs across the decades, mixing easy going tunes, the pub classics and the faster rock 'n' roll for dancing. The fifties and sixties option is a specialty set for people who love that era and want to be on their feet for it, built on Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers and The Beatles.
