About
Merilyn Steele is a singer for hire in Sans Souci, NSW.
Retro is the whole point here. Merilyn Steele works solo with backing tracks, and the song list leans on the records people already know the words to: All I Wanna Do, Bad Moon Rising, Crazy, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, Dreams. Suzi Quatro sits next to George Ezra, which tells you how wide the net goes. Tribute feature spots are available too, built around Blondie, Shania Twain or Suzi Quatro. Working out of Sans Souci in Sydney's south, Merilyn covers weddings, functions and club nights, and needs a covered stage on solid ground with power nearby. It's a dancing set rather than a background one.
Watch
The show
Retro, and dancing. Merilyn works solo with backing tracks and the set is built out of records people already know every word to, which is a different job to playing songs people are hearing for the first time. Suzi Quatro one minute, George Ezra a few songs later, so the net goes wider than the word retro suggests. It isn't a background music booking. The whole point is getting people off their chairs and keeping them there. Weddings, functions and club nights around Sydney's south are the usual run.
On the day
A covered stage area, set up on solid ground, with power available nearby. Cover matters as much as the ground does, since the gear can't be out in the weather.
Performance options
Beyond the standard retro set, there are tribute feature spots that can be added to a booking. Three artists are covered: Blondie, Shania Twain and Suzi Quatro. Each one is a feature within the night rather than the whole show, so you can keep the broad covers set and drop a tribute segment into the middle of it.
