Matt Basic is a singer for hire in Blackwood, VIC.
Matt sings and plays guitar. That's it, and that's deliberate. He strips the job back to one person and a voice worth listening to, and it holds up whether he's providing quiet background at a function, a chilled Sunday session, or a rowdy Friday night in a pub. The song list runs wide: Dancing Queen, Long Way to the Top, Valerie, Big Jet Plane, Ain't No Sunshine, Stand By Me, Wake Me Up, Chapel of Love. He also plays funerals. Set-up asks nothing of you. Want him outside with no power? He'll bring a battery powered speaker. Based at Blackwood and working Melbourne's west, Ballarat and the Macedon Ranges.
Watch
The show
One bloke, one guitar, one voice, and no production wrapped around it. Matt keeps it that simple on purpose. He'll sit quietly in the background at a function, stretch out into a relaxed Sunday session, or pick the tempo up for a loud Friday night in a pub, and the material bends to whichever it is. He's friendly, he's flexible, and booking him takes about as much effort as sending a message.
On the day
Genuinely nothing. Matt turns up with what he needs. Playing outside is fine, and if there's no power where you want him he'll bring a battery powered speaker, which opens up gardens, paddocks and beaches that most acts would rule out.
