About
Luke Armstrong is a singer for hire in Sunset Strip, VIC.
Twenty-three years of gigs behind him: pubs, bars, markets, weddings, corporate functions and private parties. Luke Armstrong plays covers and his own material, drawing on Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Xavier Rudd, Bob Marley, Diesel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chris Isaak, Amy Winehouse, Men At Work and Vance Joy. He also plays didgeridoo and ukulele and works with a loop pedal. If there's a song you want that he doesn't know yet, ask and he'll learn it. Setup is close to nothing, since his PA runs on battery, so power isn't a requirement. He can carry the night as a one-man band or add three hours of DJ after the live set.
The show
The set is matched to the occasion rather than run to a fixed shape, so a market stall afternoon and a wedding reception sound like two different bookings. Covers and originals both get a run, with the didgeridoo, ukulele and loop pedal there when a song wants them. Luke can carry the whole night on his own, and if the room still wants dancing afterwards he switches to DJ.
On the day
Close to nothing. His sound system runs on battery, so there's no scramble for a power point and no cable taped across your floor. That makes him easy to place outdoors, at a market, or in a corner of a venue where the nearest outlet is a long way off.
Performance options
Three hours of live music, then the DJ side takes over and your favourites keep playing through the same sound system into the night. One booking covers both, so there's no changeover gap while somebody wheels different gear in.
