About
Jamaal Sugars is a singer for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Rhythmic guitar, arrangements that go somewhere unexpected, and live looping used with a light touch. Jamaal Sugars is a solo acoustic act whose influences make an odd but honest list: The Beatles and the Backstreet Boys, Eric Clapton and Ed Sheeran, the Jackson 5 and John Mayer, Dire Straits and Dua Lipa, Oasis and Outkast. That range shows in the set, which runs from Take On Me and Uptown Girl to Levitating and Yellow, with Horses and Better Be Home Soon for the local crowd. He plays lively rooms and quiet ones, and does funerals as well as weddings. All equipment supplied, so he just needs a dry flat space with power.
Watch
On the day
Jamaal Sugars turns up with everything: guitar, looping rig, sound, the lot. What he needs from the venue is small. A flat area, dry, with a power point he can reach. That's genuinely it. Outdoors is fine as long as the spot stays dry and the ground is even under the gear. Point him at the corner you want the music coming from and he'll set up there.
