About

GBass is a singer for hire in Brisbane, QLD.

Twenty years on the Brisbane covers and originals circuit have left GBass with a very big song list and a very quick read of a room. Acoustic versions of the songs people know, plus a fair few they'd forgotten they liked: Piano Man, Valerie, Boys Light Up, Ain't No Sunshine, No Woman No Cry, The Weight, Livin' on a Prayer. Strong voice, dry sense of humour, plenty of talk between songs. He's self sufficient with PA and lighting and needs one power point to get going. Duo and band line ups can be arranged if a solo set isn't enough. Public liability.

The show

Two decades of covers and originals around Brisbane sit behind this one. GBass plays acoustic versions of songs you already know, then drops in a few you'd stopped thinking about, and the talk between numbers is as much a part of the night as the playing. He watches the room. If people want to sing along he'll let them, and if the mood wants something quieter he'll go there instead. It's a solo acoustic set that doesn't feel thin, which is harder to pull off than most people realise.

On the day

He carries his own PA and his own lighting, so the venue doesn't have to supply either. One power point near where he's playing and that's genuinely it. Worth pointing out where the outlet is when you're sorting the room layout, because it decides where he ends up standing.

Performance options

Solo is the standard booking, one man and a guitar covering the whole night. If you want more bodies on stage he can put a band together instead, three players or more depending on what the room needs. Tell him what the event is and he'll tell you which one suits it.
