About
Dan James Acoustic is a singer for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Dan James plays acoustic around Melbourne with a smooth voice and an unhurried style, the sort of thing that sits well behind a room early in the night. But he can lift it. When the vibe is there, strong vocals and a run of crowd-pleasing songs will fill a dance floor. He's played plenty of pubs and cafes and just as many private events, and he reads which one he's at. Friendly, punctual, up for a joke with the crowd, and equally happy to stay in the background if that's what the night wants. He brings everything, needs a powerpoint, and takes about 15 to 30 minutes to set up or pack down.
The show
Easy to deal with is the short version. Dan turns up when he says he will, works around what you've asked for, and is happy to have a laugh with people between songs. But he watches the room too. If the night wants him sitting in the background under conversation, that's what he does, without needing to be told twice. And when the mood shifts and people want to actually listen or get up, he can take it there instead. That read is the useful bit, more than any particular song.
On the day
Give him somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes to set up, and roughly the same again at the end to pack down. Build that into the front and back of your timings rather than assuming he can walk on. Dan brings all his own gear, so the only thing he needs from the venue is access to a powerpoint near where he'll be playing. No sound hire, no house system to negotiate with.
