About
Billy Bayou is a singer for hire in Brisbane, QLD.
Billy Bayou has spent years as a professional drummer, touring internationally, and that ear for tempo shows up in everything else. Solo, it's vocals and guitar, sometimes with a stomp box, drum machine, loops or backing tracks behind them. Rock, pop, country, blues, classics and modern. He also DJs, working hits across every era, plus tropical, roots and vintage rock and roll, and he's happy to take requests and handle announcements. Based on Brisbane's southside and willing to travel. He carries both large and small sound systems, so a lounge room or a backyard gazebo works as well as a bigger outdoor space, and there's a battery powered speaker and mic for speeches. Public liability insurance covered.
The show
Billy plays the songs everyone already knows, and mixes the tempos and styles so the mood keeps shifting instead of flattening out. Years as a professional drummer touring overseas gave him the timing for that. Depending on what you need, it's a live acoustic set, backing track solo work, or a DJ set across every era, with tropical, country, blues, roots and vintage in there too. He takes requests and handles announcements. He'll also play in a band's breaks if the band lets him, which tells you something.
On the day
Billy carries two sound systems. The small one tucks into a lounge room or a backyard gazebo without dominating it. The bigger one has subs for filling a wide outdoor space. There's also a battery powered speaker and microphone for speeches, useful if the toasts are happening somewhere with no power. For late finishing events outside Brisbane he travels with a teardrop van to sleep in, so distance isn't a problem.
Performance options
It doesn't have to be complicated. Billy can DJ from vinyl 45s or digital files, or play live solo sets, or move between the two across one night. Say what you're picturing and he'll work to it. He also takes drumming bookings, sitting in with a working band, reading charts, learning new material quickly, including originals for festival sets and recording work.
