About
Top Dead Centre is a rockabilly band for hire in Adelaide, SA.
Rockabilly, neo rockabilly, swing and roots, played by four Adelaide musicians who all sing. Daryl Yates is on vocals and doghouse bass, Bernie Mitchell on vocals and lead guitar, Pete Mitton on vocals and rhythm guitar, and Mark Krantis on vocals and drums. Four singers in a four-piece is worth noting: it means harmonies are built in rather than bolted on. Top Dead Centre sit comfortably across 50s material, blues, country rock and straight-ahead rock and roll, which covers a pub gig, a function or a wedding where the dance floor matters.
The show
Rockabilly is the spine of the night, with neo rockabilly, swing and roots either side of it. Expect upright bass, guitars and a beat built for dancing rather than listening politely from a chair. It is a style that suits a room where people want to move, and Top Dead Centre play it as the main event, not as a novelty bracket in the middle of something else.
