About
Murray Raine Puppets Australia is a puppetry act for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Marionettes, done as cabaret rather than as a kids' show, though there's a family version too. Murray Raine has twice won Australian Specialty Act of the Year and his troupe of puppets has worked arts festivals, corporate events and cabaret theatres here and overseas, including headline runs on Royal Caribbean, Star Cruises, P&O and Princess. The family show is Small Wonders. The adult cabaret shows are Follies Fantastique and It's Vegas On A String, and the puppets in them are dressed better than most of the audience. He performs solo but travels with a stage manager. Shows are built for indoors and need proper staging, sound and lighting from the venue. Melbourne based, touring nationally and internationally.

The show
Murray Raine Puppets Australia is a marionette act pitched at cabaret rather than the church hall. There are three shows to pick from. Small Wonders is the family one. Follies Fantastique and It's Vegas On A String are the adult cabaret shows, and the puppets in those are dressed to a standard that gets noticed. Murray works the strings and the comedy at the same time. The act has twice taken Australian Specialty Act of the Year, and it's travelled well beyond here, through arts festivals, corporate nights, cabaret rooms and headline seasons on Royal Caribbean, Star Cruises, P&O and Princess.
On the day
This one's built for an indoor venue with a proper stage. You'll need to supply professional staging, sound and lighting, because the show doesn't carry its own. What travels with the act is the puppet staging, the puppets and their costumes, packed into road cases. How many cases depends on the show length, so a ten minute spot needs a lot less freight than an hour. Murray performs alone on stage but a stage manager comes with him. Send an enquiry with your venue details and the touring requirements get worked out from there.
