Book Hanz Monjardin on his own and you get solo jazz piano: standards, a fair bit of improvising, the sort of playing that fills a bar or a restaurant without shouting over the conversation. Put him in a band and the job changes. He'll learn the group's material and play it to whatever standard they've asked for, while still finding room to stretch out where the arrangement allows. On the day
There's one thing you need to sort out before booking. Hanz doesn't own a keyboard suitable for gigs, so he plays what's already in the room. If your venue has a piano, that's what he'll use. If it doesn't, a hired or borrowed keyboard is fine and he's happy to play whatever you put in front of him. Just don't assume an instrument turns up with him, because it won't.
