Yvette Young is a musical soloist for hire in Darwin, NT.
Solo one night, a duo the next. The repertoire stretches from Pink to Kenny Rogers, with plenty of covers and some original material sitting alongside them. Years of gigging have built the skill that actually matters in a function room: knowing when to lift the tempo and when to sit back and let people talk. Weddings, corporate nights and parties where the dance floor is the point are all fair game. Bookings usually run three 45 minute sets, and up to five sets can be arranged. Guitar, vocals, professional backing tracks where they help, and quality sound and lighting brought along. A covered spot and a reliable power point are the only real asks. Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Missy Higgins, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Tina Turner and AC/DC all turn up in the sets.
The show
As a soloist Yvette sings and plays guitar, with professional backing tracks behind her where they add something and without them where they don't. A standard booking is three hours, broken into three 45 minute sets, and she can go up to five sets where the night runs long. She can also be booked as a duo or a trio, bringing in accomplished local musicians and vocalists to fill the sound out.
On the day
Two things are asked for: somewhere undercover to play, and a power source that can be relied on. Yvette's own description of the third requirement is that everyone wants to have a good time, which tells you roughly how she approaches the job. Past those two items, your side of it is done.
