About
Shimon Moore is a musical soloist for hire in Ryde, NSW.
Two acts in one booking. Shimon Moore plays live solo acoustic guitar and vocals through crowd favourites from the 80s, 90s and now, and he also works as an open-format DJ, reading the floor and shifting the mix to keep it moving. The pairing is the interesting part: relaxed live music while people eat and talk, then a switch to DJ mode once the night turns. He's played over 5,000 shows worldwide. Bring him a list of songs that have to be played and he'll work them in. He brings his own guitar, microphone, PA and DJ gear, and needs a flat covered spot with power, roughly two metres square plus a bit more for the decks. Based in Ryde, Sydney.
Watch
The show
Live acoustic guitar and vocals, working through the songs people already know from the 80s, 90s and now. Shimon also DJs open format, which means no fixed genre and no set playlist, just reading who's on the floor and choosing accordingly. The pairing is where it gets useful. Relaxed live music while people eat and talk, then a switch across to the decks later when the night turns and the room wants volume.
On the day
He brings his own guitar, microphone, PA and DJ gear, so the venue supplies the space and a standard power outlet. Around two metres by two suits the acoustic setup, with a bit more if the DJ equipment is going in too. Flat ground, and covered. Easy load-in and parking somewhere close by makes his afternoon considerably better.
Performance options
Solo acoustic is the straightforward booking: live guitar and vocals, relaxed early and picking up the tempo after the meal or the speeches. The open format DJ set is the other, chosen around the crowd on the night and taking requests. And then there's the combined one, acoustic through the first half before it turns into a DJ set. Any of the three can flex to the length of your event and the venue you're in.
