About
Rachel K is a musical soloist for hire in Mackay, QLD.
Rachel K is a one woman band in the literal sense. Guitar, both lead and rhythm, plus banjo, keys and blues harmonica, with drum and bass backings underneath so a solo booking still fills a room like a full group. Twenty years of professional gigs sit behind the tight sound. Her repertoire runs from easy listening through Aussie pub rock, blues, reggae, country and newer hits, taking in INXS, Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Amy Winehouse, George Ezra, Johnny Cash and plenty more. Hundreds of songs, and requests learned with enough notice. She brings her own high powered PA, her own instruments and her own transport, and needs power, a table and cover from the weather. Mackay based.
The show
One person, but it doesn't sound like it. Rachel plays guitar, banjo, keys and blues harmonica over drum and bass backings, so a solo booking still carries a room the way a group would. Twenty years of professional gigs sit behind the tightness of it, and you can hear the rehearsal hours in how little slack there is between songs. She brings a high powered PA capable of covering a large venue, all her own instruments, and her own transport.
On the day
Power, a fold out rectangular table, and a stage with a roof over it so neither Rachel nor the gear cops the weather. That really is the list. The table matters more than you'd think, since the instruments and controls have to sit somewhere within reach. Everything else, the PA included, arrives in her own vehicle.
