About
Nyssa Ray is a musical soloist for hire in Maleny, QLD.
One person, layered live into something that sounds like five. Nyssa Ray sings over acoustic guitar with groovy percussion underneath, looping each part on the spot so you watch the arrangement get built. The voice is bigger than you expect. Her range runs from the 60s to now, taking in The Temptations, Fleetwood Mac, Cyndi Lauper, John Farnham, Daryl Braithwaite, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran. She also DJs, which makes her a neat single booking for a wedding that needs ceremony music early and a dance floor late. Based in Maleny. Her gear runs on battery if there's no power nearby, which makes an outdoor ceremony a lot easier.
Watch
The show
One person building the sound of about five. Nyssa sings over acoustic guitar with percussion grooving underneath, and she loops each layer live, so watching the arrangement stack up is half the show. The voice is a lot bigger than you'd guess looking at the setup. Her songs stretch from sixties soul through to current pop. She DJs as well, which is the useful part for a wedding, because the same person can play your ceremony in the afternoon and keep the floor busy after dinner.
On the day
A power point nearby makes life simpler, but it isn't a dealbreaker. Her gear runs on battery, which is why an outdoor ceremony on a lawn or a clifftop with no power within cooee still works fine.
Performance options
Three shapes, each one covering a bit more of the day. The first is live music for the ceremony and canapes, running up to three hours. The second carries that through into the first half of the reception, up to five hours. The third adds a DJ set to close the night out, up to seven hours all up. Most couples land on the third one because it means the music never stops and hands over cleanly.
