Nik Conomos builds songs live in Brisbane rooms, layering guitar and voice, then moves to the decks when the dance floor calls for it. The repertoire is pop, R&B and a bit of rap: Valerie, Ain't No Sunshine, No Diggity, Uptown Funk, If I Ain't Got You, Wake Me Up. His looping rig is compact enough to fit almost anywhere, and there's a version of it that runs with no power at all. Two skills in one act, live acoustic looping and DJing, and he's done both for over fifteen years rather than picking the second up as a sideline. Songs get built in front of you, guitar and voice layered up until it sounds like more than one person. Then when the dance floor wants it, he moves to the decks. Pop, R&B and a bit of rap, so the room stays with him from the quiet early stretch through to the end. Reliable, and the quality holds all night.
On the day
For a main reception he uses a much larger speaker system, and that needs at least a single powerpoint. The DJ and looping rig is compact, so it fits almost anywhere you can spare a bit of floor. There's also a full acoustic looping setup that runs with no power at all, which covers a ceremony in a spot where there's nothing to plug into.

Four ways to book him. A DJ set for a straight party, with quality sound gear and a wireless mic for speeches. Live acoustic looping on its own over a few hours. The two combined, which is the common wedding choice, with more than one acoustic setup if your ceremony and reception are in different spots. Or the all day option covering ceremony, canapes, the chilled part of the reception and then full party mode once the speeches are done. Extra hours can be added to any of them.
