About
Rodney Young is a musical duo for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
A singer and multi instrumentalist working Melbourne rooms as a solo act or a duo, with a song list built on soul, R&B and pop rather than the usual pub rock. Boys II Men, Miguel, Daniel Caesar, Frank Ocean, John Mayer, Prince, Norah Jones, Leon Bridges, Fleetwood Mac and Frank Sinatra all get a look in, next to Tears for Fears and George Ezra. Rodney Young takes the time to work out what a room should sound like before he plays it, which shows in how the sets land at weddings, corporate events and birthdays. All he needs is a power point. Working with Children Check held.
Watch
The show
Music old and new, across however much of the day or night you have booked. The choices lean soul, R and B and pop rather than the standard pub set, and the run is built to hold a room over a long stretch rather than peak once and fade.
On the day
A power point, and that is genuinely the whole list. Every piece of equipment needed for the performance comes along with the act, so there is no hire to organise and nothing for the venue to set aside beyond somewhere to plug in. Worth pointing out where the nearest outlet sits when you talk through the room.
