About
PT 109 is a musical duo for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Two players, a full band sound. PT 109 pair Peter Cook on lead guitar and vocals with Tony Allen on lead vocals and bass, and they use backing tracks for drums so the arrangements land the way the records do. Cook played with James Freud & The Radio Stars and Crakajak, Allen with the Tony Catz Band and Wild Catz, and Modern Girl is still in the set. So is a good stretch of everything else: Paul Kelly, The Beatles, The Eagles, Dragon, Icehouse, Steve Miller Band, Steve Earle, Dion, The Proclaimers, Pseudo Echo, AC/DC. Sixties through to nineties, aimed squarely at getting people up. Melbourne based, and a regular for morning melodies as well as night gigs.
Watch
The show
The point of the night is getting people out of their chairs and singing along, and that is what the two of them aim for from the first song. With backing tracks filling in the drums, the arrangements land close to how you remember the records, so the recognition is instant. Expect a dance floor rather than a listening room. A daytime morning melodies crowd gets the same treatment as a party still going at midnight.
