About
Pine State Collective is a musical duo for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
AFL nights at Marvel Stadium, the Melbourne Cup, corporate functions for big companies and a long run of weddings. Pine State Collective have played the lot, and the thing that shows is knowing when to hold back. For a ceremony they'll strip your favourite songs down to acoustic. When the dance floor opens they turn into a full band and stay there. Uptown Funk, Mr Brightside, Sex On Fire, Shallow, Seven Nation Army, Watermelon Sugar, Shake It Off, and enough Ed Sheeran to keep everyone happy. At corporate and private events where people want to talk, the volume drops and the music sits underneath. Melbourne based, working as a duo, trio or band. Gear is their problem, not yours.

The show
Each booking gets treated on its own terms. For a wedding ceremony they will strip your chosen songs back to intimate acoustic versions, then switch into a high energy full band once the dance floor opens and hold it there. At corporate and private functions where people want to talk, the volume comes down and the music sits underneath the conversation without getting in its way. The repertoire covers decades, old standards through to current hits, so most of the room finds something they know.
On the day
Equipment is entirely their department. Nothing about the sound ends up on your list, and there is no hire company to ring or delivery window to sit around waiting for. That leaves your attention where it should be, on the event itself and the people who came to it.
