Nicah Music is a musical duo for hire in Perth, WA.
Piano and voice, nothing else, and the pair behind it both came through WAAPA in Perth. Their strength is the easy listening end of things, songs that fill a room without shouting over it. Piano ballads make up a lot of the repertoire, Adele, Sam Smith and Alicia Keys, but they'll drop in Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Fleetwood Mac and Foster the People to keep it from getting too still. They're happy to learn something new if there's a song that matters to you. All the gear is theirs, mixer, speakers, stands, microphones and instruments, and a duo packs down small, so setup and sound check take about half an hour to an hour. The performance spot needs cover if rain is possible.
The show
Both members of Nicah Music have been playing and studying music their whole lives, and the performance shows it. What they're after is a professional set with real feeling in it, not a technically clean run through. They enjoy playing, which sounds like a throwaway line until you've sat through an act that clearly doesn't. Easy listening is where they're strongest, music that suits the occasion and fills the room without taking it over.
On the day
Nicah Music own all their gear. Mixing systems, speakers, stands, microphones, instruments, the whole lot. A duo packs down small so they don't need much room, but do allow 30 to 60 minutes for setup and sound check before the start time. One firm requirement: the performance area has to be undercover if there's any chance of rain, because the equipment can't be exposed to it. Lighting is the one thing they don't carry, so if you want the space lit, that's yours to arrange.

Being a piano/vocal duo, a lot of the songs we feature are piano ballads, including Adele, Sam Smith and Alicia Keys. We do, however, like to try and throw in some more funky tunes to add variety, so include songs by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Foster the People and Chaka Khan. We like to include songs that can get people singing along and generally just have a good time and enjoy our sound.
