About
Mikayla Boonstra is a musical duo for hire in Perth, WA.
Two voices, two players, one sound that fits wherever you put it. Mikayla Boonstra sings lead and Rory Shepherd brings a warm, rounded tone alongside her, and the blend between them is the whole point of the act. The repertoire runs wide: Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, then straight into Harry Styles, Angus and Julia Stone, Dragon's April Sun In Cuba. Soul, pop, funk, a bit of R&B. They bring their own sound gear, so a room with power is enough. Weddings are a regular booking, from the ceremony through to canapes while the photos get taken. Based in Perth.

The show
Two voices working together is the point of this act, and Mikayla Boonstra and Rory Shepherd have clearly spent time getting that blend right. The repertoire is broad enough to suit whatever the event turns out to need, and the quality holds across it. On the day they're collaborative and easy to be around, with your guests as much as with you, which is the sort of thing that keeps a room comfortable.
On the day
All the sound equipment needed for the performance can be provided by the duo, so a venue without a system is no obstacle. Let them know what the space is like and they'll bring what suits it.
Performance options
Weddings are set out in parts you can take separately or together. The ceremony option covers guests arriving, the aisle song, music during the signing and the exit. The canapes option runs up to three hours of live music while the wedding party is off getting photographed, which is the stretch that most often gets forgotten. And the full wedding option is both of those combined, so the music carries from arrival through to the end of photos without a gap.
