About
La Moda is a musical duo for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Soprano and accompaniment, with the accompaniment being whatever suits the space: piano, keyboard, organ, guitar, string trio or quartet, accordion or harp. La Moda specialise in full church masses, garden ceremonies and destination weddings around Melbourne, singing classical repertoire and romantic ballads. Mary-Louise Santa's list runs through Ave Maria, Panis Angelicus, Pie Jesu, Amazing Grace and Morning Has Broken. Songs can be sung in English, Italian, French or German. Every member holds a tertiary music qualification, and there's Victorian College of the Arts and Opera Australia training behind the group. They'll help you choose the music for each part of the day, which takes a genuinely difficult job off your hands. MC services available.

The show
Full church masses are their home ground, and that's a specific skill, knowing the shape of the service and where the music sits inside it. Garden ceremonies and destination weddings too. The repertoire covers classical pieces and romantic pop ballads, and every member holds a tertiary music qualification, which you hear in the tuning and the phrasing rather than in anything they say about it. The genuinely useful part is the help with choosing. They'll walk you through what suits each moment of the day, which turns one of the harder decisions on your list into a conversation.
On the day
Whether they play acoustic or need a PA comes down to your venue and how many people are in it. A church with good acoustics is a different proposition to a marquee. Describe the space when you enquire and they'll tell you which way to go.
Performance options
Book the duo, the trio or the quartet, and the size of the sound matches the size of the room and the moment. MC services are available as well, which means the person running your ceremony order and the people singing in it can come from the same booking.
