Chrissy & Mick is a musical duo for hire in Geelong, VIC.
Twenty years of lead vocals sits behind Chrissy's voice, warm and full at the low end and comfortable across a lot of different artists. Mick handles guitar and rhythm, and he's good at reading a room and adjusting before it dips. Together they run a Geelong duo that can start the night on dinner music and finish it with a dance floor. The repertoire spans the 60s through to now, heavy on Aussie rock and country: Dragon, Paul Kelly, Creedence, INXS, Divinyls, Cold Chisel, John Farnham, Fleetwood Mac, Ed Sheeran, Teddy Swims. All equipment and lighting is theirs. Inside or under cover outside, and one power point. The duo holds public liability insurance and both have a Working with Children check.
The show
Chrissy and Mick both do this for a living, and their approach is simple: the room and the people in it come first. Requests get played where they can. They're on time, they bring everything they need including their lighting, and they treat the venue and its staff well. And they'll have a bit of fun with the crowd rather than staring at the fretboard all night. Expect the early part of the night to sit softly, then build once people have eaten.
On the day
Not much. Inside works, outside works, but if you're going outside it has to be under cover. One power point is all the electricity they need. Everything else, gear and lighting included, arrives with them.
Performance options
One booking is straightforward. Two or more is worth raising early, because Chrissy and Mick are happy to sit down and work out a package across several functions rather than treating each one as an unrelated job. Clubs running a season of nights and families with a couple of events in the same year both fall into that.
