About
JD's World Of Magic is a magician for hire in Newcastle, NSW.
Joel performs as JD's World Of Magic out of Newcastle, and the offering splits three ways. Stage shows with illusions, live doves and audience participation. Close-up and walk-around magic through a crowd. And juggling workshops, which are a different proposition again. An international award-winning artist, and the roving work needs no special setup at all. For stand-up and stage shows, Joel asks for a space everyone can see properly, and for the set to be scheduled between courses or after the main so the room isn't half-watching a waiter. Working With Children Check and full public liability cover are in place.
Watch
The show
Joel has picked up international awards for this work, and it shows in how little fuss the performance needs. On stage you get illusions, live doves and a fair bit of audience participation. Move him into the crowd instead and it's close-up magic, one small group at a time, done at arm's length where people can watch properly. The juggling workshops are a different thing again, hands-on rather than sit-and-watch.
On the day
Roving magic asks for nothing at all, Joel just works his way through the room. Stand-up, stage and floor shows are different: he asks for a space where every guest can see him clearly, and for his set to be slotted between courses or after the main. That last bit matters more than it sounds, since half a room watching a waiter is half a room missing the trick.
Performance options
Three formats. A stage show built around illusions, live doves and audience participation. Close-up and walk-around magic through the crowd, no stage needed. And juggling workshops, where guests learn rather than watch.
