About
Derrek Lau is a magician for hire in Perth, WA.
Objects change while you're holding them. A thought gets named before you say it out loud. Metal bends. Derrek Lau works Perth events with close-up sleight of hand and mind reading, and the point of it is that you feel the trick in your own hands rather than watch it happen across a room. He performs walkaround or stage style, and it plays for all ages, which is rarer than it sounds in magic. Kids parties, weddings, corporate functions and roving work all sit in his range. Holds a Working with Children Check, along with a police clearance.

The show
Derrek Lau will work the floor or work a stage, and he sets it up whichever way suits the event. Roving means the magic happens at arm's length while people are standing around with a drink; the stage version puts the same material in front of everyone at once. Either way it is built to land with every age in the room, so a party with grandparents and eight year olds in it gets one show rather than two.
