About
Dan Chan is a magician for hire in Sydney, NSW.
Dan Chan built a career on close-up magic and mind-reading, then moved almost all of it online. He's performed more than 5,000 shows, and these days works virtual events for corporate audiences, with signature effects built around iPhones, along with mind-reading and pick-pocketing. His stage show, Magic of the Mind, plays with suggestion, influence and misdirection, and includes a prediction that lands on every phone in the audience at once. He's after the sceptics in the room more than the easy marks. Bookings usually start with a short Zoom, where he'll show you some magic before anything is agreed. Stage shows need a sound system and a headset mic. Walk-around work is self-contained. Insured.
Watch
The show
Before anything is agreed you'll get a short video call, no obligation attached. It's partly a chat about your event and what would suit it, and partly Dan performing a few pieces down the camera so you can see the thing rather than take it on trust. Which packages make sense gets worked out in that conversation, and the day, time and season of your event all feed into it.
On the day
For a stage show you'll need a full sound system with a headset microphone available. Walk-around magic is different, he's self-contained for that and needs nothing from you.
Performance options
Magic of the Mind is the main show, fast and interactive, built out of suggestion, influence and misdirection until it looks a lot like telepathy. Details come out that nobody could reasonably know. It finishes with The Ultimate Prediction, an envelope left hanging in plain sight or a time-stamped message sent before the show starts, laying out every choice the room made across the evening. MED Talks is the other option, and it goes the other way: your guests learn how illusion and a few psychological techniques actually work, then get fooled again by the same principle used differently.
