An endurance athlete, world record holder and co-founder of First42K, he builds his talks around chasing something difficult and what changes in a person along the way. The show
A keynote built on running, and on what running has taught him. Over five years Sean has done more than 100 marathons, 50 of them in 50 days, along with multiple 24 hour runs, an 84 kilometre ultra across Bali, a sub-three-hour marathon and a 4,000 kilometre effort over 60 days for Make-A-Wish Australia. The money raised for charities close to him is the part he'd point to first. On stage that becomes storytelling backed by research, delivered with enough humour that people laugh, enough weight that some of them cry, and a clear push to go and change something afterwards. Losing a friend and football teammate is where the whole thing started.
On the day
AV for a laptop is the main thing, since the keynote runs with slides. A headset mic is the preference over a lectern or handheld. He travels with his own headset as a backup, so a venue mic failing on the day isn't the end of the world.
Performance options
Two formats. The standard one is a 45 minute keynote with 15 minutes of questions afterwards, which fits an hour on a conference program. The longer option runs two hours: the same keynote and question time, then a goal setting workshop where the audience does the work rather than watching.
