About
Lady Crooner is a jazz singer for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Debbi Arpini performs as Lady Crooner, a Melbourne jazz vocalist who has picked up wedding singing awards along the way. The straightforward version is solo, lounge and jazz standards. From there it builds: a duo with acoustic guitar or piano for background music, a jazz trio adding saxophone or trumpet, or live acoustic paired with a DJ so the dancing keeps going after the band stops. Violin is available as an extra too. She brings a PA for events up to 100 guests, and outdoor shows need power and something overhead in case the weather turns.
On the day
A PA is supplied for events of up to 100 guests, so most weddings and functions are covered without hiring anything in. Power is needed wherever she's performing, indoors or out. For outdoor shows there also has to be something overhead, a marquee or a covered terrace, because gear and weather don't mix. One more thing to note on your catering list: drinks for the performers at shorter events, and drinks plus a meal option when the booking runs past four hours.
Performance options
Start with the solo set, jazz and lounge standards sung over her own accompaniment, and build from there. An acoustic duo adds a guitarist for something relaxed in the background, or a pianist for a proper acoustic jazz feel. The jazz trio takes it up again with piano and either saxophone or trumpet. And if the night needs to keep going after the live music stops, there's a combination of acoustic performance and a DJ, which covers the dinner and the dancing without booking two separate acts.
