About
The Melody Makers is a jazz band for hire in Perth, WA.
Jazz with a running commentary. The Melody Makers Jazz Trio play standards to a proper standard in Perth, and they also put on presentations that trace the music from New Orleans and Chicago through Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet, into the swing era, then bebop, cool and jazz rock. Their Jazz And A Joke variety show adds humour into the mix. For a birthday, luncheon or wedding they'll drop the talking and just play. Mobile keyboard, small PA and everything else arrives with the trio. All they ask for is a power point.
Watch
The show
Standards you'll recognise, played by musicians who take the playing seriously. Between numbers the trio talk to the room, adding history and a bit of humour where it suits the occasion. Their early jazz presentations, tracing the music from New Orleans through swing and on into bebop, have gone down particularly well. And if the brief is simply background music for a lunch, a birthday or a wedding, the talking stops and the tunes carry the afternoon.
On the day
The trio arrive self contained. A mobile keyboard, a compact PA and every other bit of gear they need comes in the car with them. From the venue, one power point is the whole list.
