About
Powerhouse is a jazz band for hire in Perth, WA.
Formed in 1997 with a simple brief: cover the breadth of jazz rather than settle on one corner of it. So Powerhouse Jazz Band move between swing, Dixie, blues and Latin, usually as a six piece with trumpet, trombone, reeds, piano or keyboard, bass and drums, plus two singers within the band. Guitar gets added for bigger functions, and a smaller swinging quartet is available where the room needs it. Three of the players teach jazz, which shows in how tightly it all sits. They bring their own PA and have played the York Festival along with corporate functions, clubs, hotels, weddings and dances.

Both the Powerhouse Jazz band and the Larrikins were very much appreciated. I actually arrived late to our function at the Museum because I got caught him with other issues however, a lot of people were saying how great they were. Playing ‘we are sailing’ at the appropriate time was excellent too! O’Connor Landing was packed even though it was an extremely hot day and Starlight and DOCKERS staff said the music was great! So a huge thank you to everyone and I look forward to working with you all again.
