About
Gerard V is a hypnotist for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Gerard V has done more than 700 comedy hypnosis shows over 20 years, across Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Papua New Guinea. Here's how a night runs. A short funny intro that plays like stand-up and gets people leaning in. Then he asks for volunteers, and gets far more hands than you'd expect. The hypnosis happens in front of everybody, and then the gags start. Nobody is dragged up. Volunteers come by choice and the whole room is in on the joke, which is why it works for corporate nights, conferences, sporting clubs and licensed venues. Clients include Toyota, Telstra, Deloitte and Collingwood FC. Shows run 45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes, and he'll take the MC duties too. Melbourne based.

The show
Here's the running order. It opens with a short funny introduction that plays like stand-up and gets the room paying attention. Then Gerard asks for volunteers, and more hands go up than you'd guess. The hypnotising itself happens right in front of the audience, nothing hidden. And then the gags start, which is the part people talk about afterwards. It's built so the whole room is in on it, not just the people who came up.
On the day
You need a private space, some chairs and an audience. A stage isn't always necessary, particularly under 150 people, though if you do have one it wants to be big enough to hold the volunteers. Pro AV is welcome if the venue has it. If not, Gerard can usually bring speakers and lights along at no extra cost. The rest is handled at his end.
Performance options
The comedy hypnosis show is the main event, and you can bolt MC work onto it. There's also an MC-only booking for nights where you just need someone to carry the whole running order. And a sales programme, which sounds like an odd thing for a hypnotist to run until you hear the reasoning behind it.
