Solo, Billy Whitton works through jazz, blues and classic pop and rock, guitar instrumentals included, and can hold to one style if that's what the gig calls for. Hallelujah, Ain't No Sunshine, Lean On Me, Can't Help Falling In Love. As a duo, a female vocalist adds Aretha, Amy Winehouse and soul. With the Swingcats behind him it becomes swing, blues, reggae and funky pop: Buble, Tony Bennett, Sinatra, then Mack the Knife, Hoochie Coochie Man and No Woman No Cry. He carries a good PA and background music for the breaks. Based in Hobart.

The show
High standard playing without the attitude that sometimes comes with it. Solo, you can have mellow tunes with vocals or stretches of guitar instrumental, and the style can hold to whatever the occasion needs. With the Swingcats it turns into swing, Buble and Tony Bennett and Sinatra, then broadens out into jazz, funky blues and reggae. Any of those, done properly. Billy is comfortable being told what a room wants rather than deciding for it.
On the day
He carries a good PA, so sound is covered without the venue supplying anything. Background music runs through the breaks too, which keeps the room from going flat between sets. It's a small detail that guests never notice, and that's exactly the point.
