On the day
Venue approval comes first. Your venue manager signs a Safety Work Methods Statement and sends dimensions and photos of the performance area so the performers can prepare. Space needed is a 3m by 3m square with 2m of height clearance, on a level floor, indoors or out. XL flame effects want 6m every way. Outdoors depends on the weather, and strong wind means finding somewhere sheltered. Every performer carries fire blankets, wet towels, an extinguisher, a first aid kit and the data sheet for their fuel, with a trained spotter on hand for the riskier routines.
