About
Flow Storm is a fire performer for hire in Glen Iris, VIC.
Palm candles, double staffs, swords, poi and comets on the fire side, and Lycopodium torches or fire breathing where the setting allows. LED work brings balls, poi, and visual poi that can carry your logo or images across the night. Flow Storm can spread the performance out, introducing a new prop every so often with breaks between, or condense it into one choreographed 15 minute piece. Arrival is at least half an hour before start time for the safety check and setup. Music can come from his own speaker to suit the theme, or he'll work with what's already playing. Fire needs three by three metres clear of anything overhead and flammable. Public liability, professional indemnity, a Working with Children Check and Level 2 First Aid with CPR are all in place, and he arranges the CFA permit when one is needed.
The show
He turns up at least half an hour before the start time, walks the fire area for a safety check and gets the gear ready. Music is flexible. He can bring his own speaker and pick something that suits your theme, or work with whatever's already playing. From there it goes one of two ways. Either a new prop appears every so often through the night with gaps in between, which spreads the spectacle out, or it's condensed into a single choreographed 15 minute performance. Which one works better usually comes down to how the night is structured.
On the day
Fire needs a minimum of three by three metres with nothing flammable hanging above it. Some of the bigger shows want more than that. LED and daytime roving are far easier, since he'll work with whatever space exists. Broadly, more room is better, and high ceilings help most of all.
