About
Fire Theatre Australia is a fire performer for hire in Melbourne, VIC.
Two ways to do fire, and they land very differently. The first is a choreographed stage production, months in the making, cut to one piece of music and stacked with different disciplines and visual effects. The second is sustained roving work that fills the quiet corners of a venue and pulls in small clusters of people at a time. If you know you want fire but have no idea which shape suits your event, that's a normal starting point and this Melbourne team will talk it through. Daytime and family friendly options run alongside the fire work, including bubbles, juggling, hula hoop and costumed characters. Indoor venues need 4.5 metres of clearance, and large indoor fire needs HVAC ventilation.

The show
Two very different things happen under the heading of fire. One is a stage production, built over months to a specific piece of music, layering several disciplines and visual effects into a set piece that stops the room. It runs from one performer up to five, across a space anywhere from 5 metres to 25. The other is roving and ambient work that keeps quiet corners alive and catches a handful of people at a time as it moves through. Performers cycle five minutes on and five off, so booking two who tag between each other keeps it constant. Not sure which one suits? Say so, and it gets talked through properly.
On the day
Indoors, you need 4.5 metres of clear height above the performance area. Anything less and fire is off the table. And if you want large indoor fire specifically, the venue has to have HVAC ventilation already installed, so it's worth checking that with the venue before you lock in a date.
